Passito Tachis and two new ranges inspired by Sicilian art

Passito Tachis honours Giacomo Tachis and his conviction that Sicily could successfully cultivate an unusually broad range of grapes. When Paolo Panerai and Alessandro Cellai initially discussed a Zibibbo passito, Tachis instead proposed Semillon and Gewürztraminer, judging that the latter’s northern European character would balance Sicily’s intense sunlight.

The release accompanied two new art-led ranges. Colori di Sicilia comprises four single-variety wines from Nero d’Avola, Frappato, Grillo and Catarratto, with labels based on ceramics by Giacomo Alessi. I Putti del Serpotta is a premium range whose imagery reproduces the sculpted angels of the 17th-century Sicilian artist Giacomo Serpotta. The broader portfolio retained established wines including L’Eterno, Moro di Testa, Alaziza and Davolarosa.
