Rain in June and July restored soil-water reserves and regulated temperatures, preventing vine damage. Merlot faced the greatest pressure because its early cycle meant it did not benefit from September rains, yet it achieved suitable acidity and ripeness. Overall yields were expected to be slightly lower, with high fruit quality.
