Fico: organic and vegan wine from an idea of Filippo Corsini
Filippo Corsini developed Fico after professional experiences in Buenos Aires, Patagonia and New York. Back at Villa Le Corti, he worked with his father Duccio on a wine intended to respect the rhythms and biological cycles of the vine and surrounding nature.
The first harvest took place in 2015. Eight Sangiovese rows beside a boundary fig tree were cultivated biodynamically and produced 280 numbered, certified-organic bottles. The wine became a portrait of Filippo’s personal approach: natural sensitivity, close attention to biodynamics and an ambition to renew inherited family practice.
Filippo died in London on 31 October 2016 at the age of 21. His family committed to continuing the work as a legacy and to supporting young people capable of renewing agriculture, art and beauty. The environmental approach extended to lightweight glass and a recycled-paper label bearing Fiona Corsini’s watercolour image of a fig and its leaves.
