About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards are situated in Castelnuovo Berardenga at 320 m above sea level, with south and south-east exposure. Their soils contain sand, silt and clay with a stony skeleton. The Guyot-trained vines average 15 years of age, are planted at 5,000 vines per hectare and yield 35 hl/ha.
Grapes
60% Sangiovese, 20% Syrah and 20% Ciliegiolo.
Vinification
The grapes are hand-picked into racks, destemmed and softly pressed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at 28°C for 16 days, with manual pump-overs and “filling.” Natural yeasts are used in the best vintages. Malolactic fermentation is completed after alcoholic fermentation.
