Salvo and Simone Foti – The Old Vine Conference

The conference presentation described I Vigneri as Salvo Foti’s family project, run with Simone, and linked its name to the Sicilian winegrowers’ guild created in the fifteenth century. Its mission was framed as restoring dignity, specialist skills and a sustainable livelihood to the growers tending Etna’s traditional vineyards. The presentation emphasized the threat posed to old high-slope Alberello vineyards by expanding modern plantings and explained that their dry-stone terraces and resistance to mechanization are integral to their character and quality.
