The pruning of the vine at Il Paradiso di Frassina

The approximately 20-year-old vines had traditionally been spur-pruned on permanent cordons. After Guyot-pruned vines experienced little damage in a spring frost, the estate decided to convert all vineyards. The system delays budding slightly, renews fruiting wood every year, distributes bunches more evenly and is intended to slow vine ageing and reduce wood-disease risk.
