Precision agriculture in the vineyard: the experience of Tenute del Cerro
La Poderina’s vineyards occupy a heterogeneous setting between maritime influences, waterways and areas of volcanic origin, where soil conditions can change over very short distances. The Campi Connessi project was established to digitalise technical vineyard management and respond more precisely to this variability.
Generic municipal weather data were supplemented by intelligent meteorological stations capable of recording conditions in individual microzones. These measurements allow vineyard work to be directed toward specific areas or even individual sections of a crop.
Satellite-linked sensors provide real-time monitoring and support immediate corrections. They help track the distribution of grapes within vineyards and assist operators during the preparation of vineyard-treatment mixtures. Dedicated software identifies errors in those mixtures as they occur, allowing pathogens to be addressed promptly and with greater precision.
The project’s objective is to improve vineyard efficiency and fruit quality while reducing waste and environmental pressure. Visitors can explore the estate’s dispersed vineyards with an agronomist during an off-road tour.
