Expanded European labeling rules require wineries to make ingredient, nutritional and recycling information available to consumers. Keeping this information current can create a substantial administrative and design burden, particularly for small producers and limited releases.

QR codes as a digital-label solution

The article proposes linking a printed QR code to a digital label rather than crowding the physical bottle label with changing regulatory information. Digital records can be updated without reprinting the packaging, while the bottle retains more space for the producer’s visual identity and brand communication.

QRFox.eu is presented as a system for creating and managing customizable electronic labels. Its functions include an ingredient library, nutritional-energy calculation, real-time product updates and production of scan-ready codes. The intended workflow combines regulatory compliance with simpler information management for wineries.
