About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes grow on the fertile, rich soils of the Salento peninsula, on clay and silt, in a warm Mediterranean climate. The vines are 15 years old on average.

Vinification

The grapes are picked by hand when slightly overripe, usually in the second ten days of September. Maceration and fermentation last 10–15 days at a controlled temperature of 20–22 °C.

Ageing

The wine is aged in oak barrels for at least 2 months, then rests a further 2 months in the winery's cellars after bottling.

Tasting profile

A rich red with a layered, well-balanced taste and a generous fruity aroma. The character is expressive and lively.

Label / history

Made by Leone de Castris, a winery in Puglia founded in 1665.
