The article assembled several items of recognition for recent Luiano releases. Wine Spectator reviewed the 2016 vintage of Lui di Luiano and awarded 93 points to Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Ottantuno 2016, highlighting its floral, red- and black-fruit, juniper and sage character, vibrant structure and long finish. The same publication awarded 88 points to Chianti Classico Riserva 2016, describing a muscular expression built around cherry, plum, cigar box, black tea, iron and leather.

Decanter rated the 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva highly, with published panel scores of 91, 90 and 93, and emphasized its layered bramble fruit, pomegranate, cherry and herbal character.

Chianti Classico Riserva 2017 received its first selection and recognition for Merano. It was presented as a 100% Sangiovese expression matured for 24 months in a large cask.

Gambero Rosso again assigned two red glasses to the Riserva and also commented on the 2016 Gran Selezione Ottantuno and the Cabernet Sauvignon–Merlot–Colorino blend Lui 2016.
