The Art of Pruning

Pruning during winter dormancy shapes the vine and redirects its energy toward the fruit. The work restrains excessive vigour, improves canopy aeration and lowers pressure from fungal disease and pests. It also helps maintain plant health and longevity and facilitates subsequent vineyard operations. The pruner selects sound shoots from the previous season and adjusts the retained bud count to variety, fertility and climatic conditions.
