The portraits of Tenuta Carretta: Giampiero Gallesio

Born in 1962, Giampiero Gallesio built his early career in large-scale retailing. He and his wife Elisabetta managed four supermarkets between Moncalieri, Costigliole d’Asti and Mombercelli, where his interest in wine informed the selection of bottles for the wine-and-spirits departments. Seeking a change of life and more time with his family, he left retailing and briefly planned a sabbatical.

In 2012, contacts introduced him to Malgrà, which needed support for its commercial activity. He accepted the position as the winery was approaching acquisition by the Miroglio family. Following that change in ownership, the family later moved him into a role at Tenuta Carretta, where he became Area Manager for north-western, central and southern Italy.
