Vintage Report: The 2025 Winegrowing Year
Winter supplied adequate precipitation, and healthy budbreak began at the end of March without frost damage. A warmer-than-average spring brought flowering by mid-May. July and August were warm but not extreme, while regular gentle rainfall maintained water supply without increasing fungal pressure.
Several September rain events delivered 50–100 litres per square metre, requiring rapid decisions and precise selection. Harvest began on 26 August in Terlano with the leading Sauvignon Blanc parcels, followed by Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc. Pinot Noir was picked between 5 and 10 September, followed by fruit from higher sites. The total harvest lasted five weeks, two fewer than usual.
Yields finished approximately 10% below expectations. Keil Schiava remained below 40 hl/ha but achieved exceptional ripeness. Castel Campan, Cassiano and Rubatsch returned after a one-year pause. The season reinforced the value of manual work, biodynamic care and long-term rhythmic practice. After picking, work resumed with compost, sowing, pruning, biodynamic preparations, tying, shoot thinning, canopy management, plant protection and selective harvesting preparations for the next cycle.
