About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The Petit Manseng grows at Mazzon near Kaltern on an extensive, sunny and breezy south-facing mountainside terrace at 400 m above sea level. The position allows the grapes to remain on the vines long beyond the normal harvest period. Sand and clay are interspersed with a varied mix of rock, including finely eroded dolomite, porphyry, gneiss and granite, together with stones as large as a hand.

Grapes

100% Petit Manseng.

Vinification

The raisined berries were pressed slowly and gently for eight hours to recover their intensely concentrated juice. Fermentation began spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in large wooden casks. It continued slowly for several months before stopping naturally at around 10% alcohol, leaving a balance of sweetness, acidity and moderate alcoholic strength.

Technical data

Vintage 2023. Alcohol: 9.7% vol. Residual sugar: 203 g/L. Total acidity: 9.7 g/L. Production: 3,210 half bottles. Biodynamic and Respekt-BIODYN certified; vegan.

Tasting profile

Brilliant golden straw-yellow in colour. The layered bouquet combines ripe mango, lychee and dried apricot with delicate honeyed and floral tones, while fine botrytis nuances add depth and complexity. The palate is rich yet elegant, with sweetness held in balance by vibrant acidity. The finish is long, pure and subtly fresh.

Serving and pairing

Serve lightly chilled at 8–10 °C. Pair with refined desserts featuring exotic fruit, crème brûlée, delicate pastries or mature blue cheese. It may also be enjoyed by itself.

Vintage notes

A wet spring in 2023 was followed by a hot, dry summer, which the vines endured with resilience. A golden autumn restored balance and produced grapes with exceptional ripeness and aromatic depth. Cool nights and gentle autumn mists encouraged noble botrytis to develop naturally on the Petit Manseng, concentrating the berries delicately. The fruit was harvested at the end of January with notable purity, density, physiological ripeness and concentration.
