Marina Danieli Wine Club – Selezione autunnale 2020

Harvest began on 26 August after a mild, rainy summer with strong temperature variation. Sauvignon, Pinot Bianco and Friulano were picked first, followed by Pinot Grigio and Ribolla Gialla; red grapes were expected around mid-September. In Potocco, the agronomist found split, mouldy and rotting Pinot Grigio berries caused by moth larvae. Because this was the first such attack in four years, no preventive treatment had been applied. The response was stricter selection in the vineyard and cellar before pressing. The first three harvested white varieties also formed the basis of an experimental wine produced without added sulphur dioxide.
