From vineyard to winery: the harvest ritual at Masottina in Ogliano

Harvest work starts at dawn, when cooler temperatures help protect grape fragrance and integrity. On Ogliano’s hills, workers inspect and pick each bunch by hand and place the fruit into red crates. The terrain requires an exclusively manual and selective harvest.

Flatter vineyards permit mechanical harvesting, allowing grapes to be gathered efficiently at the desired ripeness. Both approaches share the same objective: respecting the fruit and delivering it in suitable condition to the Ogliano winery.

All grapes converge on the cellar at the centre of the vineyard holding. Its proximity to the vines reduces transport, and systems designed for gentle handling guide the bunches towards the presses. The harvest also marked 80 consecutive vintages of Dal Bianco family involvement.
