Ogliano: the glacial origin of Masottina’s R.D.O. wines

Ogliano is the only one of Conegliano Valdobbiadene’s 43 Rive formed by glacial action. The retreat of the Piave Glacier created the Fadalto corridor and the morainic amphitheatre visible from the winery. Its stratified soils combine clay—including rare Miocene blue clay—silt, sand and stones.

Air channelled through the open Fadalto corridor creates constant ventilation, naturally drying grapes, supporting concentration and health, and reducing the need for intervention. The eastern slope is more exposed to wind and produces greater freshness and aromatic intensity. The more sheltered and compact western slope is associated with structure, depth, spice and savoury character. These complementary sectors are interpreted through Levante and Ponente.
