Italy, Tuscany, Chianti Classico: New and familiar faces

The article opens with the introduction of the Chianti Classico Unità Geografiche Aggiuntive, approved in 2021, and places Panzano among the denomination’s eleven named geographic units. Its La Massa section portrays Giampaolo Motta as the estate’s energetic central figure and describes the property at the far end of the Conca d’Oro, with clay-rich, schistous-galestro soils and vineyards between approximately 320 and 450 metres.

The feature records a newly planted 2.2 ha Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard intended for a future project. It also notes the 2019 unveiling of Asiram, a 100% Merlot dedicated to Motta’s mother, who died that year, and mentions the release of selected wines through the Place de Bordeaux.
