Barolo Gattera: The expression of a new balance

Gattera carries particular family significance because Angelo Veglio’s first vineyard purchases were made there in the 1960s. The July 2017 merger added Alessandro’s Gattera vineyards and altered both the company structure and the composition of the site’s wine. Mauro’s parcel is warmer and sunnier, facing south-west; Alessandro’s vines face south-east and are cooler and windier. Combining the two was intended to unite structure and richness with elegance, freshness and balance, including in hotter vintages. Production of the 2014 release amounted to 5,000 bottles.
