About this wine

Grapes

The blend combines equal parts of a Dolcetto red wine and a Cortese white wine.

Vinification

The vermouth is made exclusively from wines from the Piemonte DOC area and is produced at the Dr. M. Montanaro distillery. It contains no artificial additives or caramel colouring.

Label / history

Alex Ouziel created the 9 di DANTE project with guidance from master blender Mario Baralis, who had spent 30 years learning the craft of vermouth before retiring in the hills of Piedmont. Their collaboration arose from a chance meeting and subsequent friendship, with the aim of developing a new vermouth formula rooted in Piedmontese craftsmanship.

The name and concept refer to Dante’s Divine Comedy and its journey through Hell, Purgatory and Paradise. The project interprets the poem’s struggle for power through the balance between wormwood and the other botanicals, using wine as its medium.
