News from the vineyard

An approximately one-acre block with persistently wet soil was removed before 2019 and replanted in spring 2020 with Sangiovese VCR5, Chianti Classico 2000 clone 7 and I-VCR-209. A separate Ciliegiolo vineyard was established, while another 0.5 ha was being prepared for Sangiovese F9 and R24. At Le Terrazze, two years of vine assessment were followed by selection of Sangiovese, Canina Nera and Trebbiano Toscano plants. Nursery propagation took another two years and produced 150 young vines derived from the 1932 material. Repetition of the process is intended to form a renewed vineyard descended from the original vines.
