Vintage 2020 and Saint Vincent 2021

A mild winter opened with warm January days; a bud even appeared early in the I Gobbi vineyard. February was dry and suitable for pruning, replacing dead vines and tending old vineyards. March remained mild until rain and sub-zero temperatures arrived around 20 March.

Cold April weather was followed by heavy rain throughout May and June, saturating the soil and driving vigorous flowering and fruit set. Intense heat began at the summer solstice. The vines drew on stored spring water through July and the August heat, with late-August storms reducing temperatures.

September was sunny, warm and dry. Canaiolo was harvested on 7 September to retain acidity for rosé, and the main harvest began on 17 September as the swallows departed. Young people and former students returned to participate. The last Triassic Sangiovese was gathered at the beginning of October. A generous olive harvest followed, producing oil with acidity recorded at 0.15–0.20%.
