Piccini 1882: the final rush ahead of the 2024 vintage

The season began with abundant spring rainfall, which created sufficient water reserves for the vineyards to enter summer without water stress and supported regular flowering. Dry weather in June helped contain fungal disease.

Conditions became more demanding in July and August. High temperatures caused uneven ripening in Sangiovese, whereas the earlier-ripening Vermentino was not similarly affected. The international varieties benefited from cooler night-time temperatures. Pasquale Presutto assessed the varieties individually as the estate approached harvest.
