About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Fibio comes from a 1-hectare Pinot Bianco vineyard in Veneto, northeast of Verona, on the hill separating Montorio from Valle d’Illasi. The vineyard was planted in 2012 to a modern vertical trellis at 6,000 vines per hectare. Its calcareous soil includes some clay and abundant tuff. Yield ranges from 0.5 to 1.5 kg per vine.
Grapes
100% Pinot Bianco. The wine has held Demeter certification since its inaugural 2014 vintage.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in mid-August and softly pressed. The juice settles at 12°C in a tank cooled with fresh spring water, followed by natural fermentation. The largest lees are removed before the wine is transferred to two cement eggs.
Ageing
The wine remains untouched in the cement eggs for one year. Natural movement inside the egg keeps it active, clean and clear. It is bottled without filtration.

Vintage notes
January 2024 was slightly colder than the recent average and brought substantially more precipitation than the previous five years. An initially mild and relatively dry spring was followed by frequent rain in May and June, complicating vineyard work and downy-mildew control, though infections were managed more successfully than in 2023. July was hot during the day, with cooler evenings offering relief to the vines. Less severe rainfall in August helped the early-ripening fruit reach full maturity. More frequent rain after mid-September slowed later-ripening grapes, but most of the crop had already been harvested, and the long harvest produced a positive result.
