Casanuova di Nittardi 2023 artworks by Chun Kwang Young

The 2023 Casanuova di Nittardi continued the artistic program begun in 1981. Chun Kwang Young’s design draws on the visual language of his Aggregations: three-dimensional compositions assembled from numerous individually folded and Hanji-wrapped elements. His contribution explores how many small components can form a balanced whole, paralleling the combination of nuances within wine. A third work was created for a special bottle with a relief label.

Chun was born in South Korea in 1944. His work connects traditional handmade paper, Eastern philosophy and Western visual approaches and is represented in institutions including the British Museum, Seoul Museum of Art and Smithsonian American Art Museum. The project associates his themes of patience, balance and inner harmony with Nittardi’s approach to wine and art.
