Harvest report 2025

From November 2024 until the end of the 2025 harvest, intervals without rain never exceeded about 20 days. Total rainfall reached roughly 900 mm in Chianti Classico and 1,200 mm in Maremma, but its regular distribution was more decisive than the totals. Summer temperatures remained below 36°C, keeping canopies active and avoiding severe water stress while increasing fungal pressure.

Pruning began in early December in younger and higher vineyards around Nittardi and Villa Rosa. After a mild, fairly dry winter, unstable March and April weather slowed growth. Budbreak started on 1 April in Maremma and the earliest Villa Rosa sites; Nittardi and San Giorgio at San Donato in Poggio followed about ten days later. Approximately 220 mm of rain fell in Maremma during April and May. Soil management, regular copper and sulphur treatments and close monitoring were essential against downy mildew.

June and July remained moderate at approximately 32–35°C. Véraison began in mid-July in Maremma and Villa Rosa and followed 10–15 days later at Nittardi and San Donato. Harvest started on 1 September in Maremma with Vermentino and Roussanne, followed by early Merlot and Sangiovese parcels. Chianti Classico picking began on 10 September, and the final fruit from its coolest sites was harvested on 26 September. The resulting wines were characterized by energy, purity, refined tannins and bright acidity.
