About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Ottella is based at Peschiera del Garda, on the southern shore of Lake Garda. Its vineyards lie along the lakeshore on clay-limestone soils, and the mild climate supports grape ripening.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand in 17 kg crates, transferred to smaller crates for drying, and fermented in stainless-steel tanks.
Tasting profile
Rich golden yellow in appearance, with an appealing aroma and a deep, balanced palate.
Label / history
According to legend, the Ottella name dates to the sixteenth century; a coat of arms from that period survives in the estate courtyard. An excerpt from G. B. Perez’s 1900 work La provincia di Verona ed i suoi vini states that Ottella was known in the sixteenth century as Verona’s only producer.
