Vintage 2025: harvest and seasonal conditions
Winter was mild and frost-free. A warm, rainy spring replenished soil-water reserves, and the vines avoided drought despite a very hot June. July was closer to normal and August brought favourable conditions.
Pinot Nero was harvested from late August in excellent condition, followed by satisfactory Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Persistent September rain then increased humidity and moth damage. Extensive thinning, cleaning and selection preserved acceptable quality but reduced the quantity of Vernaccia available for Riserva and Vigna Santa Margherita. Sangiovese suffered most: Folgóre-quality fruit could not be selected, so the 2025 vintage was cancelled. Vernaccia was assigned to Evoè again after several absent vintages, and rosato production increased.
