Paternoster: 100 Years of Vulture. A Story of Family, Territory and Vision

Founded in Barile in 1925, Paternoster celebrated one hundred years of activity under fourth-generation winemaker Fabio Mecca Paternoster and the ownership of Tommasi Family Estates. The anniversary connected the pioneering work of Anselmo Paternoster with new expertise, research and investment.

The restored Cantina del Barone Rotondo—an ancient ice house carved into volcanic rock—became the Caveau dell’Aglianico and the symbolic center of the estate. The Barone Rotondo wine project accompanied the restoration, drawing on historic vineyards at 600 metres and using extended maturation in wood, steel and bottle; only 2,500 bottles were produced.

A renewal of the Barile headquarters was also launched to expand hospitality and wine tourism. The planned center is intended for residents and visitors and seeks to connect the Vulture with travellers arriving from Matera and Puglia. A renewed digital identity and a program of events for the territory, partners and wine community completed the centenary initiative.
