Gold Collection: the treasure chest of Italian wine

Collezione Oro began in the Chianti hills with Chianti Riserva and later expanded to encompass further Italian denominations. Its name refers to a family story predating the winery.

The Piccinis were textile merchants who travelled across Europe. Serafino Piccini used part of the resulting fortune to acquire prestigious bottles and kept his personal “Gold Collection” in a trunk in the family cellar. While searching for brocade for an American order, the young Angiolo found the trunk. Serafino discovered him but, instead of reprimanding him, opened one of the finest bottles to share. The experience awakened Angiolo’s passion for wine and preceded his foundation of Piccini in 1882.

Fourth-generation Mario later gave the same name to his own collection as a tribute to the bottles that had inspired the founder and to the family’s Tuscan inheritance.
