Happy birthday, Vigneto Calvarino

The anniversary retraced Leonildo’s 1971 decision, made with Luigi Veronelli, to foreground the Calvarino vineyard rather than only a denomination or brand. Its name recalls the steep approach and difficult dark basalt. The vineyard covered 8 ha and produced approximately 70,000 bottles at the time of the celebration. Andrea and Dario described it as the family wine and emphasised their father’s use of concrete and extended fine-lees ageing. Vertical tastings were planned in Italy, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.
