Sustainability and Wine: The Eco-Friendly Approach of Our Wine Tour in Tuscany

The sustainability programme links wine tourism with the estate’s agricultural and cellar practices. Tastings favour local, organic and zero-kilometre products, while visits use walking routes through the vineyards, winery and surrounding land. Recycling is incorporated into the visitor experience, and products use lightweight bottles or recyclable packaging.

Certified organic farming operates in conjunction with biodynamic practices. Synthetic chemical pesticides and fertilisers are excluded and natural fertilising compounds are employed. Vegetative covers and companion planting support biodiversity. Green manure is sown rather than maintaining permanent grass; autumn soil work is shallow to limit compaction and is restricted on erosion-prone slopes. For the remainder of the year, mechanical work is concentrated beneath the rows.

Efficient irrigation reduces consumption, and collected rainwater provides independence from conventional water supplies. Winery measures include wood-chip use, energy-efficient equipment, waste reduction and fewer non-recyclable materials. A major photovoltaic installation was planned as a further investment in renewable energy.
