Wine Tour at Quercia al Poggio: An Authentic Experience in the Heart of Chianti Classico
The experience begins with a walk through the organically cultivated vineyards, introducing the vine’s annual cycle, the work preceding harvest, the local microclimate, mineral-rich soils and the effort to preserve each vintage’s character. Organic cultivation is presented as a means of safeguarding soil integrity and surrounding biodiversity.
The cellar portion follows the transformation from grapes to wine. Historic stone walls coexist with modern equipment that permits control from fermentation through maturation. Visitors encounter both oak-barrel ageing and steel maturation before progressing to a guided tasting.
The tasting connects the wines with local products including Tuscan bread, pecorino, estate extra-virgin olive oil and local cured meats. Three formats are offered: Classico, with two wines and olive oil; Tagliere, with three wines, oil, cured meats, cheeses and honey; and A Tavola, which adds a first course and Vin Santo with cantuccini. The A Tavola format requires at least six participants.
