Rocca di Frassinello opened Anteprime di Toscana 2019 at Florence’s Fortezza da Basso. During the press conference on 9 February, approximately 200 Italian and international wine journalists watched a film exploring Renzo Piano’s ideas about wine and architecture.

Piano discussed buildings with an identity, architecture that does not become a monument to itself, the priority of functional spaces and the building’s relationship with wine. He also recounted the exchange of ideas with Paolo Panerai that led to his first and only winery design.

The presentation placed the architecture within the estate’s Italian–French origins and its cultural programme. It also highlighted Rocca di Frassinello’s membership, since 2017, in Toscana Wine Architecture, a network of 14 estates promoting a contemporary interpretation of Tuscany and stewardship of its inherited landscape.
