The courage to believe in your dreams: Rocche dei Manzoni celebrates 50 years

Rocche dei Manzoni marked its first 50 years with a celebration in Manzoni Soprani attended by more than 1,000 guests from across Italy. Founded by Valentino Migliorini in 1974, the family business was led at the anniversary by his son Rodolfo and Rodolfo’s wife Roberta.

The program looked back on the estate’s principal projects: traditional-method sparkling wine begun in 1978; long-aged Barolo, including the ten-year Castelletto Vigna Madonna Assunta La Villa Riserva; and Barolo from Vigna d’la Roul, Cappella di Santo Stefano and Big ’d Big.

Cuvée Door 185th was selected for the celebration as an expression of the estate’s experimental work. Developed through the friendship and collaboration between Rodolfo and composer Ezio Bosso, the project uses a composition chosen to accompany bottle refermentation. For eight years, the bottles receive controlled musical vibrations calibrated for time and intensity with the aim of optimizing yeast activity.

Rodolfo used the occasion to acknowledge the people behind the estate. He remembered his father Valentino as the person who imagined, conceived and created Rocche dei Manzoni; described his mother Jolanda as essential to the completion of that project; and credited his brother Alfonso’s ideas, the contributions of past and present collaborators, and Roberta’s work and support. He thanked his children Valentino and Isotta and encouraged them to follow their own dreams without forgetting the family’s example.

At the time of the anniversary, the estate covered 50 hectares and produced approximately 250,000 bottles across 18 wines. Production was organized into the Valentino traditional-method range and the Rocche dei Manzoni range of whites, reds and Barolo.
