2020 Harvest

A mild, dry winter and warm March caused unusually early bud break. At the beginning of April, snow and three sub-zero mornings froze almost half of the emerged buds. Replacement growth appeared but carried no fruit, immediately reducing production.

Warm, rainy April and May helped the vines recover, with flowering in early June. Summer was generally typical, with limited rain and no prolonged extreme heat. Veraison ran from late July to about 20 August. Heavy rain in early September was followed by hot, dry weather and excellent ripening. For the first time at Sanlorenzo, harvest occurred in September, on the 28th and 29th. The resulting wines combined good acidity with alcohol below the recent average.
