Pittura Fresca
Pittura Fresca transformed the winery’s event space into an exhibition devoted to Italian contemporary art of the 1980s and 1990s. The selection followed the period’s movement from conceptual approaches toward more emotional and visually assertive forms, when canvas ceased to be the sole medium and photography, plastics and mixed materials gained prominence.
The programme included work connected with the pop-art practices of Mario Schifano, Tano Festa and Mario Mambor, the abstraction of Carla Accardi and the geometric-perceptual work of Dadamaino. Curator Giuseppe Frangi connected the selection through energy, vitality and chromatic freedom, interpreting the works as varied reactions against intellectual orthodoxy and as expressions of an Italian approach to modernity.
Lucia Satta conceived the event and related its outlook to the estate’s commitment to Italian identity, respect for tradition without dependence on fixed models and engagement with younger generations. The exhibition opened on 1 September 2022 and remained accessible through 17 September, alongside Bolgheri DiVino activities organized by the Consorzio Bolgheri e Bolgheri Sassicaia.
