John Fodera interviews Federico Giuntini

Federico recalled beginning work in 1987 and immediately proposing organic cultivation. Silvia manages the office, Federico works mainly in the vineyards and direct sales, and Niccolò assumed full cellar responsibility in 2019 while working with Franco Bernabei. Bucerchiale’s parcels date from 1968, 1992 and 2001; Erchi was purchased in 1998 and planted in 1999. Federico contrasted Bucerchiale’s clay-limestone soils with Erchi’s greater limestone and iron content. He also detailed later pruning, cover crops, manure, deeper winter tillage, shade-preserving canopy management, and kaolin and algae applications before heat waves. Niccolò is expanding into vineyard work, while Rebecca has begun helping in the wine shop.
