Bardolino in Summer: Can Red Wine Be Served Chilled?
Bardolino’s lively acidity, delicate tannins and fresh-fruit profile allow it to benefit from light chilling rather than the high “room temperatures” common in modern homes. The recommended serving range is 14–16°C for Bardolino red, 8–10°C for Chiaretto and 6–8°C for sparkling Chiaretto; approximately 30 minutes in a refrigerator is suggested for the red.
The estate connects this serving approach with its emphasis on freshness, elegance and drinkability. DELARA represents the higher Montebaldo subzone, where elevation and Lake Garda help retain freshness and encourage even ripening, while Cuvée XV represents the more traditional Bardolino Classico style. KEYA, Perlage and Fior di Rosa illustrate still, extra-brut sparkling and extra-dry sparkling interpretations of Chiaretto.
The article also introduces Bardolino Freddo, an annual late-August event in the town devoted to Bardolino served chilled, and points visitors toward tastings at the Bardolino winery.
