La Fuga Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2015: A Pure Expression of Harmony

The 2015 vintage was characterised as generous, mellow and balanced, giving time a central role in developing the wine’s harmony. Its evolution illustrated Sangiovese’s capacity to acquire tertiary character during maturation in seasoned wood, without a single aromatic element dominating.

Tenuta La Fuga uses seasoned, untoasted oak, with the timber matured for more than one year per centimetre of stave thickness. These barrels reflect Italian cellar tradition and are intended to support elegance rather than overt oak impact.

Oenologist Roberto Potentini described the estate’s Brunello as faithful to tradition and resistant to fashion, while still subject to continual improvement. Its intended distinction is harmony rather than sheer power. The estate’s three Sangiovese wines mature in Italian oak.
