Tenuta Margon begins its 2020 harvest

Mild weather, especially during April, accelerated vine growth compared with 2019. Rain in May and June arrived in short intervals but stored enough water in the soils to prevent drought stress. Harvest began on Monday 17 August in the lower Chardonnay vineyards and was expected to progress over approximately one month into the higher Chardonnay and Pinot Nero sites. All fruit was picked by hand. Vineyard work had continued during the lockdown under revised health protections. Harvest precautions included daily sanitisation of agricultural vehicles, tools and workplaces, together with crew and transport arrangements designed to maintain physical distancing. The combination of mountain conditions, strong day-to-night temperature changes and environmentally considerate vineyard work produced healthy vines and grapes with complex aromas.
