The three 2020 harvests in Sicilia

The account of the 2020 harvest placed Tenuta Rinazzo among four western Sicilian family estates with distinct pedoclimatic identities. Its Syrah vineyards followed a ridge beneath a fourteenth-century monastery, creating a strip of green within a stark, dark landscape.

Sandy soils, a semiarid climate and strong day–night temperature swings produced small berries of intense blue colour. The yield reached 75 quintals per hectare, lower than in the preceding vintage. Fruit maturity indicated a potential alcohol level of 13.5%, supporting positive expectations for the resulting wine.

Gaspare Catalano oversaw Pellegrino’s still white and red wine production at the time and had worked with the family for more than thirty years.
