Traveling with Terredora: Stop in Missouri

After twelve years of travel in the United States, Terredora visited Missouri and highlighted Pinnacle, the distributor founded by Bill Kneip twenty-five years earlier. The account presents restaurant and retail visits as opportunities to maintain personal relationships and encounter local places and stories. It also sketches Missouri’s geography and culture: the Missouri and Mississippi rivers, the state’s role in westward expansion, the wine and beer traditions established by nineteenth-century German migrants, its principal cities and the musical and barbecue cultures of Kansas City and St. Louis. Kansas City’s position across the Missouri–Kansas boundary and its more than two hundred fountains receive particular attention.
