Tornesi: una famiglia legata indissolubilmente alla storia di Montalcino
The family profile traces ownership to 1865 and identifies Gino Tornesi’s 1967 registration of the vineyards for Brunello as the first step toward the present wine business. Maurizio later took charge with the support of his daughter Elisa.
It describes two vineyard areas at approximately 300 and 600 metres, with south and south-west exposures, stony galestro soils and a microclimate influenced by the sea and Monte Amiata. Traditional terraces were retained, while vineyard management employed organic fertilizer, excluded herbicides and relied mainly on manual work.
The account also records the 2009 opening of the locally built stone cellar, including its production equipment, tasting room and panoramic terrace overlooking Val d’Orcia and Monte Amiata.
