The first new vintages and a look at the 2025 harvest

Autumn and early winter brought abundant rain, followed by dry conditions in January and February. March through May remained cool and rainy. June and July were hot and dry until approximately 100 mm of rain fell between late July and the first week of August. The second half of August and all of September were clear and dry.

Budburst began about ten days later than in 2024 but proceeded normally, as did flowering and fruit set. Veraison began in early July for Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot. Harvest opened on 7 August with Chardonnay for sparkling base wine. Verdicchio and Pecorino followed after 15 August; the main Verdicchio harvest lasted about three weeks from late August. Red grapes were picked through early October, beginning with Merlot and Montepulciano for rosé and ending with Cabernet Sauvignon and selection-grade Montepulciano. Botrytised Sauvignon Blanc closed the harvest in October.

No major plant-health problems emerged. Treatments remained within routine management, and light thinning returned in selected vineyards around veraison. More than 100 people worked daily to respect optimal picking dates. Overall volume matched the historical average; quality was particularly high for white grapes and good for red varieties.
