Her name is Zefira
Zefira takes its name from Zéfiro, the west wind that continually crosses C.da Curbici. Floriana Scardino and Marta Nicolino cultivate the Nerello Mascalese vineyard at 500 m on clay-loam ground. The soil holds measured moisture and permits deep rooting, while the wind dries and refreshes the rows.
The wine receives eight days of maceration, spontaneous malolactic fermentation and four months in steel on its own yeasts. Oenologist Nicola Colombo’s role centers on observation and restraint. The new identity replaces Àgape and emphasizes the vineyard, its two growers and the wind that defines the site.
