Fattoria di Valiano is even greener

Fattoria di Valiano adopted Icaro X4, developed by the Italian startup Free Green Nature and presented as the first hybrid robot designed to treat vineyards with UV-C radiation.

The robot targets downy mildew, powdery mildew and botrytis. It travels autonomously after its route is mapped, using electricity for power and wing-mounted panels to irradiate the vines. A network of sensors tracks changes in weather conditions, calculates infection risk and determines when intervention is required. The installation continues the environmental programme begun with the complete organic conversion of the vineyards.
