Piccini 1882: the final rush ahead of the 2024 vintage

Seasonal rainfall supported strong vegetative growth in the Tuscan vineyards. June rains replenished soil-water reserves, helping the plants withstand subsequent high temperatures and supporting sugar concentration in the berries.

Pasquale Presutto reported that the vineyards were at veraison. International varieties were progressing well, aided by the return of cooler night temperatures from mid-August. In Chianti Classico, Sangiovese benefited from warm, dry conditions and well-timed light summer rain. Delayed leaf removal protected bunches from sunburn, and harvest was expected between late September and early October.
