Harvest 2018: The First One with Organic Certification
Organic conversion began in 2014 to protect soil, crops and people. After the conversion period, the 2018 harvest became the first presented under organic certification. Merlot, rosé and Cabernet fruit were picked first, followed by white grapes and finally Sangiovese, which then occupied 80% of the vineyard surface.
Organic production was defined by environmental safeguards, reduced dependence on outside inputs and avoidance of synthetic herbicides and pesticides. The conversion period allowed soil and crops to clear residues of materials excluded under organic rules.
