Syrah e Merlot, il nuovo blend della gamma Baby Super Tuscan

A new Syrah and Merlot label entered the Baby Super Tuscan range as a blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Merlot. At the time, it represented the family’s fourth fruit-led wine and marked the introduction of Syrah to the producer’s varietal offering.

Vigne a Porrona was chosen to explore Syrah under Maremma’s warm, sunny conditions. These conditions develop the variety’s powerful aromas and characteristic black-pepper spice. In the blend, Merlot contributes softness and roundness, producing a broad, enveloping expression with an intense ruby colour and violet reflections.

Oenologist Roberto Potentini described Syrah as a natural evolution of the project and Merlot as its youthful, powerful complement. The B.S.T. range then progressed from two established red blends—Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot—to the new Syrah with Merlot interpretation. A pure Sauvignon completed the range as a fresher and more immediately approachable white. Together, the three reds and one white interpreted Tuscan tradition in an innovative form.
